Tom Huckerby

Founding Director and Recruitment Expert

For over twenty years, Tom Huckerby has lived and breathed IT and recruitment.

“I love it – and it’s what I know. I get a real buzz from placing the right candidate with the right client.

I came from an IT background and transitioned into recruitment, because I felt that I could make a difference finding people roles and helping them get ahead in their careers. I get a kick out of helping someone succeed in life.

A career is a goal for nearly everybody … and to assist in that journey and help them get to that place quicker is immensely satisfying.”

Operations Manager, APAC

StaffLogic Operations Manager Margeaux is affectionately known as ‘M’ to her co-workers, candidates and clients. She’s bubbly … in a warm way, and she has an infectious personality. It’s hard not to like her.

In the five years she’s been with StaffLogic, she’s become an integral part of the business model.

Working closely with Tom, Margeaux helps to source and screen candidates, and she provides high-level support to clients and candidates throughout and after the process.

“I help highly skilled Filipino people find the right jobs for them … and I like to find the right candidate for our clients. It’s all about helping people.”

Like many Filipinos, Margeaux is highly qualified. She completed a Bachelor of Information Management, a practical nursing course, and more recently has completed a web development course.

She enjoys recruitment and has really found her niche with Tom and the StaffLogic team.

“The reward after helping someone find their dream job, or the perfect role for them, is satisfaction. It’s an incredible feeling knowing this person can support their families and have a better quality of life.”

A dog lover, Margeaux spends her time with her chihuahuas, her nephew and her twin sister and brother.

“Filipinos have close-knit family ties … we stick together. I spend a lot of time with my family, making up for time I’ve missed.”

Margeaux spent a number of years working in the Manila call centre industry, and she knows the conditions inside out. Which is why she’s so passionate about the recruitment work she does with Tom. It really is better. The conditions are better. The hours are better. The pay is better. The core team is better.

“Tom values your thoughts and your opinions. He lets you be part of any decision making, which is something I like about him. He treats his employees well; it’s just easy to work with them. Yes, it can be stressful at times, but people help each other out. We support each other.”

Margeaux says that the Filipino people are hard workers and people pleasers. They just want their bosses and colleagues to be happy.

“And the Filipino people are resilient. When we are knocked down, we get back on our feet straight away.”

And when she’s able to enjoy some well-earned leisure time, Margeaux is not afraid to admit she’s got a real passion for her Nintendo switch … and enjoys shopping and Netflix.

Offshore Scheduling Assistant

StaffLogic Scheduling Assistant Jing Murray values the opportunities she and other Filipino workers are given, working for Australian businesses.

“Australian business people are very honest and know how to appreciate hard work … and they acknowledge the effort Filipino workers make.”

Jing says this is why Filipino workers stay loyal to their Australian employers.

“You’re rewarded for your efforts … and encouraged to do more and learn more.”

Jing was studying nursing at university when her father suddenly became ill.

She was unable to finish her studies, as the money put aside for fees was needed for medical bills.

She started working as a Virtual Assistant, learning, earning and building a career for herself. It wasn’t the one she expected, but it’s one where she’s able to spend time with her young son every day.

“The major benefit is the flexibility it offers me to be with my child and not have to travel to go to the office – saving on transport, clothing and most importantly, time.”

Jing’s role includes recruiting, screening resumes, testing, training new recruits, monitoring of timesheets, supporting staff and more.

“I love my job … and I love the people I work with. I am very thankful for the trust they’re giving me and that trust gives me the confidence to work well with the tasks they’re giving me.”

Jing loves playing volleyball on the weekends and spending time with her family.

Born in Vietnam, adopted and raised in New Zealand, she moved to Australia briefly to marry and has now settled back in New Zealand.

Kiri enjoys spending time with friends and family, cooking and enjoying a glass of wine. She’s energised by fun, positive people and loves to entertain.
